THE trial of the man who killed a young mother, but insists he did not murder her two children, at Hillier will resume in January next year.
Steven Graham Peet, 31, of Evanston Gardens, was to stand trial this month accused of three murders.
On his first day before the Supreme Court, he pleaded guilty to having murdered his then-partner, Adeline Yvette Wilson-Rigney, on May 30, 2016.
Peet admitted he bashed Ms Wilson-Rigney, 28, in the head with a crowbar six times and choked her with a cable tie before leaving her body underneath a mattress in their laundry.
However, Peet denied murdering her daughter Amber, 6, and son Korey, 5, who were found strangled and hogtied with cable ties, with and “layers” of sticky tape around their heads.
He claimed he was in a “disassociative state” when the children died, and therefore incapable of both forming the intent to murder them and being found guilty, legally, of the charges.
Peet’s 11th-hour assertion threw the trial into chaos as prosecutors sought a mental health expert to challenge his claims.
On Tuesday, court records showed the trial had been scheduled to resume on January 29, 2018.
