CHARGES against singer Shannon Noll over the alleged assault of a bouncer at the Crazy Horse strip club have been dropped.
Noll did not attend the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Thursday afternoon when his case was thrown out.
The What About Me singer had been charged with one basic count of assault after he was kicked out of the Crazy Horse strip club on Hindley St early in the morning in January.
Eyewitnesses had claimed Noll was “intoxicated and screaming”, saying “I’m Shannon Noll, let me back in”, as he was removed from the premises by security guards.
Subsequently Noll’s promoter told media there was “more to this story than what’s been seen”, while the venue denied claims the singer had been coward-punched by a security guard.
Noll himself appeared to poke fun over the controversy in February, posting to Facebook a photo of himself behind the bars of the Old Mt Gambier Gaol.
Today he posted on Facebook: “Justice prevails in the end and a big thank you to everyone for the support over the past months.” The comments on the post are ... well, we’ll let them speak for themselves.
An SA Police spokesman would not elaborate on why the charge was dropped, saying only that they were confident there was no reasonable prospect of conviction.
