THE Salisbury West football captain who was reported for four violent incidents in the same game will not face criminal charges, police have confirmed.
Adam Jones has been banned for life for the four incidents during a game against Trinity Old Scholars on Saturday, August 18, at Salisbury Downs Oval.
Jones was filmed elbowing and kicking fellow players leaving Trinity player Carl Teusner with a shattered jaw which required surgery.
Mr Teusner reported the incident to police days after undergoing surgery.
On Monday police confirmed they would not be pressing charges against Jones.
“An on-field football incident where a Trinity Old Scholars player sustained serious injuries has been investigated by police and no charges will be laid,” a police spokeswoman said.
Last week Jones was banned for life from the league for the four incidents.
He was charged with striking, kicking and undue rough play during the division seven qualifying final.
Umpires did not report Jones during the game but Trinity later submitted footage of two of the incidents to the league for evaluation.
Another Trinity player was left concussed after the match.
