Rundle Mall’s famous ‘mall’s balls’ graffitied overnight

ADELAIDE’S famous ‘Mall’s Balls’ have been graffitied overnight as video emerged on social media of a man tagging nearby shops with what appeared to be the same colour spraypaint.

POLICE have released CCTV footage of a vandal wanted for graffitiing Adelaide’s famous ‘Mall’s Balls’ and nearby shops overnight.

Video emerged on social media of a man tagging shops on Gawler Place with what appeared to be the same red spraypaint.

Photos of the vandal attack, which reportedly happened about 12.20am on Sunday, were posted to the Instagram account @ShitAdelaide.

The photos show graffiti tags on the the bottom sphere in the iconic sculputre, which was designed by visual artist Bert Flugelman and erected in the mall in 1977.

The man continued the graffiti attack as he walked south on Gawler Place, then turned west down Grenfell St, spraying red graffiti on more than 10 shop windows, police said.

The male suspect described as caucasian, aged between 18-20 years old, about 178cm tall, medium build, with dark coloured hair wearing blue jeans and carrying a black backpack with a yellow panel.

At the time of the offending he wasn't wearing a shirt, however he was wearing a black or dark blue t-shirt with writing on the front prior to the offending.

Police believe numerous people in Rundle Mall may have witnessed the offending and ask anyone with information on the incident or the suspect including any mobile phone vision or photos to please contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
