A father is under police guard in hospital on suspicion of his adult daughter’s murder after he was found next to her body inside his luxury car, near their family home.

Police made the discovery on Kidman Ave, Kidman Park, about 11.40pm on Sunday after an hour-and-a-half search, which was launched over concerns for their welfare.

The woman and her father, who had a serious abdominal injury, were found inside his late-model white Mercedes-Benz about 250m from their home.

Officers were forced to smash the driver’s window to drag the man out of the car.

Friends have paid tribute to the tragic young woman, describing her as “such a beautiful soul”.

The man was yet to be interviewed after undergoing emergency surgery in the Royal Adelaide Hospital, where he remained under police guard last night.

Police said they were not looking for anyone else over the woman’s suspicious death.

Western Districts detectives spent yesterday interviewing the man’s wife.

She was distressed when she later returned to the home, where a late-model black Mercedes-Benz 4WD was parked in the driveway.

She was too distraught to speak publicly.

Detective Chief Inspector Tony Ransom said police started looking for the white Mercedes just before 10pm on Sunday after members of the public said they were concerned about the welfare of the father and his daughter.

Chief-Insp Ransom confirmed the pair’s relationship but would not go into details on whether the incident was related to domestic violence or if the man was behind the wheel at the time.

He would also not comment on reports that police had been called to the father’s house earlier on Sunday over a disturbance.

Neighbour Shuli Maheo, who lives across the road from the crime scene, said he heard loud noises and smashing.

Mr Maheo said he looked out his window and saw lots of lights and a person laying on the ground.

“What I heard the police say to the man … was to stay put and stay on the ground,” Mr Maheo said.

Nearby resident Suzy Papini said she heard police and ambulances drive down her street about 10.30pm on Sunday. “All we could see from the bedroom was lights,” Ms Papini said.

“It was very quiet … we feel sad for the poor woman.”

Another resident, Ron Bott, said he was also woken from the commotion.

“The lights were like an amusement park out the front,” Mr Bott said.

A neighbour, who did not wish to be identified, told The Advertiser the family was “nice” and always said “hello”.

Police forensic investigators examined the crime scene and reopened the street just before 6.30am on Monday.

Anyone with information about this incident should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
