A YOUNG woman has been left with facial fractures and a head injury after being thrown several metres by a car on Hindley St.

Emergency services were called to the intersection of Hindley St and Rosina St on Adelaide’s party strip at about 10.15pm.

Hindley St was heaving with long weekend revellers and football fans from Adelaide Oval when the crash occurred.

Sam Luck, who was having a drink at the nearby Dog and Duck Hotel, said he heard the bang as a silver car hit two women who are thought to have stepped out from the sidewalk.

“One of the girls was thrown into air,” Mr Luck, 19, told The Advertiser.

“She basically did a somersault in the air before coming back down. Then her face started to fill with blood.

“She was in pretty bad shape. She would have been unconscious for a good two minutes.”

The young woman’s friends were crowded around her as paramedics placed her on a stretcher.

She was taken to the RAH hospital with facial injuries and a head injury.

Another female was taken to hospital as a precaution.

Hindley St has been reopened after police completed their investigations.
