A hammer has been used in two violent “smash and grab” robberies across Adelaide at the weekend.
Detectives are investigating whether the hammer-wielding attacks on two businesses, 18km apart, are linked and have released CCTV images of suspects at both scenes.
Jewellery was first stolen from a second-hand dealer on Payneham Rd, Felixstow just after 11.15am on Saturday after a man smashed a glass display cabinet with a hammer.
The man was spotted getting into a white sedan with a rear spoiler. It was last seen heading south on Sunbeam Rd.
The suspect is described as being 170-180cm tall with a slim-to-medium build. He was wearing a dark long-sleeved top, dark pants and a full face mask.
Detectives released the above image of a man seen in the vicinity of Walkerville a short time before the theft who may be able assist with the investigation.
Then at 4.45pm on Sunday several gold chains were taken from a northern-suburbs jewellery store at Hollywood Plaza, Salisbury Downs.
The suspect this time is described as aged in his late 20s, of caucasian appearance, about 160cm tall, slim build, with dark hair, light brown/blonde facial hair. He possibly has a tattoo on his left cheek.
No injuries were reported and no staff confronted in either of the robberies.
Officers are investigating any links or whether the same man was behind the crime spree.
