Driver lands in Dry Creek wetlands after multi-car crash
A driver allegedly rammed into several cars before plunging into the wetlands at Dry Creek on Thursday afternoon.
A driver who allegedly rammed into several cars before plunging into the wetlands at Dry Creek will face a raft of traffic charges.
A blue Mitsubishi Lancer travelling south west on the Salisbury Hwy allegedly hit the back of a black Toyota, which was travelling in the same direction, at high speed just after 3pm.
The Mitsubishi driver continued driving and clipped the rear of a Holden station wagon before slamming through a fence on the grass median strip onto the wrong side of the road.
The sedan then collided with the rear of a truck heading northbound before careering out of control and plunging into the wetlands.
The driver, who was not injured, climbed on top of his partially submerged car.
The Christie Downs man, 30, waded to safety before being taken hospital where he will submit to a drug and alcohol test.
He will face court on Friday charged with driving under the influence of drugs and or alcohol, driving in a manner in a manner dangerous the public and driving while disqualified.
Two people in the black Toyota sedan were taken to the Lyell McEwin Hospital with minor injuries.
Both sedans were towed from the scene.
