Two cousins who robbed and killed a man after luring him to a Las Vegas hotel under the pretence of a threesome have been sentenced to 25 years in prison.

Erika Covington, 21, and Arionna Taylor, 22, pleaded guilty to the second-degree murder and robbery with a deadly weapon of Bryan Altamarino-Solano on May 17, 2023.

The 25-year-old was found dead from a gunshot wound to the chest inside Caesars Palace, after going into the room with Covington and Taylor.

According to court documents, surveillance footage showed Mr Altamarino-Solano walking arm-in-arm with the women toward his room at around 2.35am, with a bag slung across his chest. Less than 15 minutes later, another camera captured Covington and Taylor running down a hallway away from his room, carrying his bag.

Explicit videos on Mr Altamarino-Solano’s phone were later recovered by detectives, and showed him engaged in sex acts with both women.

Police were never able to determine who out of the pair actually shot Mr Altamarino-Solano.

Covington and Taylor agreed to plead guilty to the charges against them in November last year. On Friday, Judge Tierra Jones accepted the terms of their plea agreement, and sentenced both women to 10 to 25 years in prison.

Offered the opportunity to speak before the court, Covington offered her “condolences to Brian’s family”.

“I deeply, genuinely apologise for the grief and the pain that’s been brought to you guys’ family,” she said.

Mr Altamarino-Solano’s mother, Nelly, joined the hearing via video call from outside the country, and said that the “pain” she felt at her son’s murder “was so deep”.

“I felt like I just lot my life. I had so many questions. Why? Why my son?”

His father, Victor, was present in court on Friday and asked for justice to be served, saying: “It wasn’t enough just taking his belongings. They had to kill him.”

Mr Altamarino-Solano reportedly did not speak English, and was in the US seeking asylum from Nicaragua.
