Merry Christmas, almost!
Whether it’s Christmas morning or any other morning of the year - there’s always an important question on my lips… where am I going to get a good coffee today?
I am fully in support of people taking a break to be with their families on days like this, but if that’s not their thing, I am also very supportive of getting behind local businesses and grabbing a great Christmas morning coffee.
Many cafés will be closed after this weekend for at least a couple of days, and some take a well-earned break right through until after the New Year – but if you’re going to be looking for a good coffee in the Christmas break - I’ve done the hard work for you.
CHRISTMAS EVE
First things first, The General Market at the end of Mitchell Street in Larrakeyah, and Parap
Fine Foods in Parap, are both open on Christmas Eve for any last-minute platter additions,
hampers, groceries – or bags of your own coffee.
CHRISTMAS DAY
On Christmas morning, if you want to get in early, Kopi Stop in the CBD will be open from
7.30am until 12pm, and Fresh Point Café, across all three locations in Parap, Nightcliff and
Bellamack, will be open from 9am – 2pm.
In the city, in the Vic Arcade you’ll find the relatively new (and great) Meow Waffee which will also be open for coffee and waffles from 8am – 1pm.
BOXING DAY
Chances are you’ll need a pick me up on Boxing Day, whether it’s from the family activities, the festivities, or the overload of great food and drinks… so add The Coffee Man in the city to the list from 7.30am – 1pm, joined by Kopi Stop again opening from 7.30am – midday and Alberto’s Café from 7am – 3pm.
If you’re sticking to the suburbs, all the Fresh Points are open again, Sweet Brew and Co in Stuart Park will be open from 8am – 2pm, and Laneway Coffee in Parap from 7.30am – 2.30pm.
And if that’s all too much, you can stock up on fresh DTown Coffee beans, locally roasted right here in Darwin, at the Rapid Creek markets this weekend to get you through.
