A man charged with a raft of drug and weapons offences has faced court after being arrested in an organised crime sting in Darwin.

Janez Sandor Kostanjevec appeared in Darwin Local Court on Monday charged with a number of serious offences including possessing or using a firearm whilst unlicensed, making a threat to kill a person and a range of drug possession and supply charges.

He did not apply for bail and was remanded in custody until his next appearance on March 8.

NT Police said Drug and Organised Crime detectives arrested three men on Saturday after apprehending a vehicle in Parap, seizing drugs and edged weapons.

Kostanjevec and a 26-year-old man were arrested at the scene and taken to the Palmerston watch house.

Shortly after, a second vehicle was apprehended by police in Howard Springs, where drugs, cash and a firearm was seized, with police arresting a 46-year-old man at the scene.Search warrants were executed on homes in Fannie Bay and Coconut Grove, where more weapons and items police said were indicative of drug supply were seized.

Kostanjevec was charged with possessing firearms or ammunition without a licence, failing to meet transport requirements, possessing a trafficable quantity of a schedule one dangerous drug, supplying less than a commercial quantity of a schedule one dangerous drug, possessing and supplying a commercial quantity of a schedule two dangerous drug, possessing tainted property and making a threat to kill a person.

The 26-year-old man and 46-year-old man were charged with possessing a trafficable quantity of a schedule one dangerous drug and possessing less than a trafficable quantity of a schedule 2 dangerous drug.

Both men were expected to face Darwin Local Court on Monday.

Detective Senior Sergeant Wayne Newell said police would continue to work to disrupt the supply of illicit drugs into the Territory.

“These arrests should serve as a warning to those involved,” Sergeant Newell said.

He urged anyone with information about the sale of trafficking of illicit drugs in the Territory to contact police on 131444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800333000.
