Darwin’s naughtiest night will return this year after a five-year hiatus from the party calendar.
The iconic Hookers’ Ball has been an annual highlight of Darwin’s party scene for three decades.
It will be held at Discovery Darwin nightclub on September 30.
The event celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2017, but was not held over the past few years, with the reason for its hiatus unclear.
Discovery Darwin promotions and marketing manager Brad McAlister said a rebranded version of the ball, the OnlyFans Ball, was held in May but feedback from partygoers prompted the original event to be brought back.
“People have just been asking for it to come back,” Mr McAlister said.
“We thought it was time to bring back the original Hookers’ Ball.”
The less clothes patrons wear, the cheaper entry to the event.
There will also including a spanking station.
Mr McAlister said the Halloween-like event was a chance for people to “dress in as little or as much as they like on the one night of the year where you can be a total s*** and no one can judge you”.
“People really get around it,” he said.
About $2000 will be up for grabs during “naughty stage games” including “best fake orgasm”, “best lap dance” and “best pole dance”.
There will be judging for the best dressed male, female and group.
Performer Tayla Jennings, who is attending her first Hookers’ Ball, said she was excited and looking forward to meeting the party crowd.
“It’s such a different type of people that come out,” she said.
“You don’t feel like you’re in Darwin.
“It’s so strange.”
Duke Gordon will also attend his first Hookers’ Ball.
He said the event was an opportunity for people to have a good time without judgment.
“The more people, the more people getting into it, the more fun it’s going to be for everyone,” he said.
“This is like the one event of the year that’s kind of like the most explicit, out there event and you can express yourself.
“In a city where a lot of people are born and bred here and are kind of used to the norm and a lot of things can be not accepted so it’s kind of good to have these.”
