Home Hill photographer Anne Geddes has released a series of hilarious portraits swapping ethereal toddlers for tantrums, chaos and mess.

Her new series of ‘messy portraits’ swaps out the scenes of ethereal toddlers she’s known for with tantrums and chaos.

Ms Geddes said it was a refreshing change of pace in the age of social media where parents feel constant pressure to post only the picture-perfect moments of their bubs.

“You’re looking at images on social media that aren’t real,” she said.

“It gets a bit competitive out there, which I don’t think is right.

“There is no such thing as a perfect parent.

“We’re all imperfect, and we should embrace that.”

Ms Geddes said she wanted to showcase the realness of babies in her work and encouraged parents to embrace the mess when capturing moments with their bubs.

“Your child is not going to be perfect all the time,” she said.

“Parenting is messy. It’s joyful and everywhere in between.”
