Herbert, Dawson, Kennedy: Where to vote in the 2025 federal election in Townsville

Unable to vote in the Federal Election on May 3? Here is all the information you need to know about voting early.

On May 3, Australian voters will decide who will be the next federal government. But if you’re unable to cast your vote on the day, early voting centres will open from April 22.

When is election day?

Election day is Saturday May 3, 2025. A full list of election day voting centres are listed down below.

Who can vote early and when?

Early voting centres will open on Tuesday April 22, 2025 and will close at the end of opening hours on Friday May 2.

More locations will be open on election day, including schools and community centres.

To vote early either in person or by postal vote you:

- are outside the electorate where you are enrolled to vote

- are more than 8km from a polling place

- are travelling on election day

- are unable to leave your workplace to vote

- are seriously ill, infirm or due to give birth shortly (or caring for someone who is)

- are a person with disability (or caring for someone who is)

- are a patient in hospital and can’t vote at the hospital

- have religious beliefs that prevent you from attending a polling place

- are in prison serving a sentence of less than three years or otherwise detained

- are a silent elector

- have a reasonable fear for your safety or wellbeing.

Postal vote applications close on Apr 30, 2025.
