The one and only Crowded House is coming to the Gold Coast for an epic two-hour headlining set at Broadwater Parklands.
The iconic Australian and New Zealand rock band will be bringing their howling whispers and moans to the city as part of the Red Hot Summer Tour, with a line-up so strong, you better be home for it.
Festival promoter Duane McDonald said securing Crowded House had been 15 years in the making.
“They’ve been a band that we’ve earmarked for years, but just haven’t been able to lock them in because they’re so busy,” Mr McDonald said.
“We’re wrapped that we’ve finally got there.”
Mr McDonald said the two-hour show will cover “everything” – including all their classic hits, Don’t Dream It’s Over, Better Be Home Soon, Something So Strong and Weather With You.
“It’s a big show,” he said.
“I remember watching them years ago at The Forum in Melbourne, and the show went for three hours, and I was just mesmerised for the whole show. It was just incredible.”
Other acts at the November 16 event include ARIA Hall of Fame honorees The Church, whose song Under The Milky Way famously featured in the psychological thriller Donnie Darko, starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Drew Barrymore, Seth Rogen and Patrick Swayze.
“Every year we want to put a line up together that’s a little bit different to previous years,” Mr McDonald said.
“So all of the acts, I think apart from Mark Seymour and Vika and Linda – none of them have played a Red Hot Summer before.”
Acclaimed sibling singing/songwriting duo Angus and Julia Stone will bring old and new songs to the stage ahead of the release of their latest album due next year.
“We’ve got The Waifs who are also incredible,” Mr McDonald said.
“Mark Seymour and Vika and Linda are doing a sort of a joint set, so it’ll be something special to watch.”
“All in all, it should be a fantastic day out.”
Tickets for the 18 plus event go on sale to the public Thursday.
