A Gold Coast tradie has landed himself in court on criminal charges after he stole a toy gun from an arcade game at Timezone during a boozy afternoon with mates.

Jamaine Andrew Tully attended the gaming store at The Strand shopping centre in Coolangatta on March 13 with his mates after a session on the drink.
“CCTV footage shows the defendant (Tully) and associates being general nuisances and behaving in a disorderly manner,” Senior Sergeant Greg McKenzie told Coolangatta Magistrates Court.
“The defendant and a few of his male associates can be seen playing with toy rifles that are physically attached to a shooting arcade game.

“Footage shows the defendant handling one of the toy rifles – he appears to be trying to remove it from the cable that secures it to the arcade game.”

The court heard that after several minutes, Tully managed to detach the toy gun from the machine and walked out of the business carrying it.

The Timezone management didn’t realise the rifle was missing until it was long gone, at which time they reported the matter to police.
Tully was identified by officers through CCTV footage and was already wanted for questioning at the time over the theft of a mobile phone from a massage parlour on February 3. A warrant was issued for his arrest.

He was taken into custody by officers in May and was charged with two counts of stealing.

The 18-year-old was self-represented when he pleaded guilty to the offending, telling the court he regretted his actions.

“I was drinking with my mates and I’ve done a stupid choice,” Tully said.

“I regret doing it.”

The court was told Tully had no criminal history, made full admissions to the offending when questioned by police and had returned the stolen phone in full working order. All of those factors were taken into consideration during sentencing.

He was convicted on both counts of stealing and received no further punishment.
No convictions were recorded.
