A GOLD Coast teenager has been given $20,000 after discovering a “one-of-a-kind” chip which garnered bids of up to $100,000 online.
Coomera schoolgirl Rylee Stuart will be given $20k by Doritos after her TikTok video of the chip went viral four days ago, earning more than 2.9 million views.
“Is it valuable or should I just eat it?” the 13-year-old wrote, sharing footage of the “puff dorito” and listing it for sale on eBay.
Within days bidding had skyrocketed from $0.99 to $100,000. It has now been taken down.
Rylee has since told her nearly 12,000 followers the sale was an experiment: “We’re not taking this seriously, we just want to see what happens.”
Doritos has now decided to reward her “boldness”.
Chief Marketing Officer Vandita Pandey said: “it’s been a whirlwind couple of days for Rylee and her family and we’ve loved following her story.
“We’ve been so impressed with Rylee’s boldness and entrepreneurial spirit, so we wanted to make sure the Stuart family were rewarded for their creativity and love for Doritos.”
