A woman is fighting for life and police are hunting for a driver after a shocking hit-run collision in Corio on Sunday morning.

It is understood a female pedestrian was struck by a car at the intersection of Plantation Rd and Washington St about 6.45am.

The woman, in her 30s, was airlifted to the Royal Melbourne Hospital in a critical condition, an Ambulance Victoria spokesman said. She had life-threatening-injuries to her upper and lower body.

As of 4.30pm on Sunday afternoon, she was still in a critical condition.

A Victoria Police spokeswoman said officers were told the vehicle fled the scene, heading east on Plantation Rd.

Police have called on anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.

Investigators believe a red commodore with black rims and a black sunroof may have been involved.

On Sunday afternoon three cars were involved in a collision on Mt Duneed Rd in Mount Duneed about 2.30pm.

An Ambulance Victoria spokesman said two people were taken to Geelong hospital in a stable condition, both with minor injuries.

The hit-run comes after a Whittington man faced court on Tuesday over a hit-run collision in Marshall on July 17, which left a 42-year-old Armstrong Creek woman with life-threatening injuries.

It’s been a horror few days on local roads. On Friday, a Point Lonsdale man was killed when his car collided with a pole and burst into flames in Newcomb.

Two pedestrians were hit by a car on Gordon Ave in Geelong West on Tuesday night.

Anyone who witnessed Sunday’s incident or has footage or any other information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
