Santa Claus is coming to town. And the jolly fellow will be visiting Geelong shopping centres to spread yuletide cheer and meet and greet his fans.
It’s that time of the year when families and friends get together to get that classic Santa snapshot and Geelong region locals will have a few options.
Corio Village is offering the cheapest Santa photos this year, with a free digital copy.
People are encouraged to head straight into the nearby Kmart afterwards to print their photos for as little as $1.
Starting prices at other centres begin at $21 and the bigger packages on offer reach about $50.
Market Square’s most expensive option, Santa Sack, includes three large portraits, two postcard portraits, a calendar, bookmark, gift card, key ring, large and small fridge magnet frames and digital versions of the low-res images.
At five cents cheaper, Westfield’s Santa’s Gift Pack is also full of picture options, including two large and four small portraits, eight wallet photos, one magnet frame, one high-res digital file, two Christmas cards, a calendar, three bookmarks and four gift tags.
Sarah and Jake Briggs are celebrating Christmas this year with their first child Frankie, who is nine months old.
Frankie, along with mum and dad, had his first Christmas photos taken with Santa in Westfield.
Ms Briggs said she was very excited to celebrate the season.
“We’ll be getting more involved with Christmas activities like setting the tree up together on December 1, not any earlier,” she said.
“I was excited to get the photos, I wasn’t sure how he would go but he loves people and he was perfect with Santa.”
Ms Briggs said the family would be making a tradition of photos with Santa each year, along with writing him a letter from Frankie and going to see the Christmas lights together.
Santa Claus said he and his elves had been busier than ever, getting ready to spread Christmas cheer at Westfield.
“We’re very much looking forward to seeing everyone,” he said.
“I always look forward to my annual visit to Westfield.
“Christmas is a time for togetherness, laughter, and making memories that will last a lifetime.”
In addition to the shopping centres, private photographers and businesses also offer a range of photo options.
Waurn Ponds Shopping Centre also has a range of Santa photo packs, along with “sensitive Santa” and pet photos Santa snapsare also available from private photographers and businesses.
People can request Santa or Aussie Beach Santa from the Real Santa in Geelong, while on the Bellarine a Sandy Santa booking makes for a unique family snap.
Westfield Geelong centre manager Lauren Frew said the festive season offered customers a chance to create special memories with loved ones and Santa.
“We can’t wait to share the joy of the season with our customers with a magical calendar of events and celebrations to get everyone in the Christmas spirit,” she said.
