A man and a woman have been arrested in a rural Victorian town following a 100km chopper chase that began in Geelong.
Police helicopters first noticed their vehicle allegedly driving erratically on the Princes Hwy in Avalon about 10.20pm on Thursday.
The car was later located in Hamlyn Heights with help from police on the ground, before two choppers began pursuing the vehicle.
The helicopters followed the vehicle for over 100km as it headed west, before it finally came to a stop at a property on Ettrick Estate Road in the small country town of Larralea where a 37-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman, both from Larralea, were arrested at the scene.
Senior Constable Emma Faliszewski said the man was “charged with reckless conduct endangering life and other driving-related offences.”
“He will appear at court at a later date,” Senior Constable Emma Faliszewski said.
“The investigation remains ongoing.”
No one was injured as a result of the incident, and the pair are assisting police with their inquiries.
