Driver flees after crashing allegedly stolen car into traffic light pole in Leopold

The driver of an allegedly stolen BMW has fled the scene after crashing the car into a traffic light pole on Friday morning.

The driver of an allegedly stolen BMW fled the scene after crashing the car into a traffic light pole.

Emergency services were called to the corner of the Bellarine Hwy and Simons Rd just before 7am on Friday morning.

The car was crushed and flipped on its side after it struck a traffic light pole.

At least two poles fell to the ground as a result of the crash.

Smashed glass and a tyre littered the scene.

Police allege the driver fled the scene on foot and an investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
