In the face of soaring costs, pubs across the Geelong region are offering patrons discounted meals to keep them coming back. SEE THE LIST

The counter meal is a classic Australian tradition enjoyed by many.

But amid the cost of living crisis, it is becoming increasingly harder to grab a bite without feeling the pinch.

To help, we’ve compiled a comprehensive list of Geelong’s best value pub feeds so you don’t have to worry about the wallet when you dine out.

The most amount of variety is on Wednesday, with at least 29 different deals available from the pastures of Meredith to the cliffs of Jan Juc.

Some of the cheapest feeds in town include a $15 parmi at The Deck, a $20 pizza at Queen of the West, and a $20 steak at the Eureka.

Jokers on Ryrie has four weeknight specials – $18 pasta on Monday night; $20 parmi on Tuesday night; $26 roast on Wednesday night; and $34 steak on Thursday night.

Owner and operator Jesse Lewis said the deals, which started out as a “thank you” to regulars, quickly attracted attention.

“Word travels fast in Geelong and we started seeing the numbers increase with new faces, which has been great to see,” he said.

“During the week the CBD isn’t as alive as it used to be so we have to work extra hard to entice people.”

Ironically, lower prices were good for business, said Mr Lewis.

“If it means we need to take a hit we’re happy to do that if we get to see our patrons more regularly,” he said.

“Without them, we’re nothing.”

Weekly lunch specials are another popular staple for Geelong’s pubs – the Great Western has “tradie specials” from $15 for the work week, while the Barwon Club Hotel has $16 lunch from Tuesday to Sunday.
