In March this year, residents described wild scenes after an illegal beach party during the Labour Day long weekend.

Torquay resident Andrew Kelly told the Geelong Advertiser at the time he believed the children present were between the ages of 12 and 16.

“There were children passed out on the nature strip and in front yards … there were some slumped against fences up side streets,” he said.

Witnesses said parents were seen dropping teenagers off at the beach and supplying them with alcohol.

Residents collected bags of rubbish following the gathering, which had been leg

In January this year, an illegal beach party spun out of control with underage teenagers allegedly passing out drunk.

The gathering was believed to have been organised on social media.

Surf Coast Inspector Monique Leffanue told the Addy at the time about 200 to 300 underage teens attended the gathering, with police initially called to reports of brawling.

“There were a number of kids who were very poorly behaved and as a result two of them were (capsicum) sprayed for being aggressive,” she said.

“They were all underage … some of the children were arriving with alcohol and some parents were dropping their children off in an alcohol-related state.

“A few of the girls were very drunk and couldn’t stand up.”

Inspector Leffanue said parents should be aware of what their children were doing and to not encourage them to drink underage.
