Police have released the first images of the face of the man, known as the Geelong night stalker, who has been terrorising residents across the region.

The Geelong Divisional Response Unit released CCTV images of the man on Monday along with a plea for information to help identify him.

The images show the man without his surgical mask, which he has been seen wearing previously on CCTV footage while allegedly attempting to break into homes in Geelong, Werribee and along the Surf Coast.

The man is wanted by police for questioning in relation to a series of alleged attempted aggravated burglaries and trespassing incidents between January 29 and March 7 this year.

Police describe the man as being of caucasian appearance, about 180cm tall, of medium build and aged between 30 and 40 years old.

He is seen wearing a wide brim hat and an Adidas hooded jumper in the vision.

Residents have shared CCTV footage and images of the man on social media since the alleged offending began earlier this year.

Scott Holbrook, who lives in Rippleside with his wife and young children, told the Geelong Advertiser the man attempted to break into his home on the morning of February 3.

CCTV footage shows the man walking up to his front door and allegedly checking to see if it was unlocked about 4am.

“He seems to be snooping … he moves around quite nonchalant with his hands behind his back,” he said.

Police said while there had been no damage to property or items stolen, the alleged offender

had been seen on security footage loitering around properties and attempting to enter homes.

Earlier this month, US criminal profiler Mike King told the Addy the man’s behaviour was “predatory”.

“My assessment would be he is absolutely satisfying a fantasy, to a degree,” he said.

Anyone who can identify this male or may have CCTV, dash-cam or other information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
