Police have appealed to the public as officers investigate an alleged assault in Torquay earlier this year.

Officers have been told an unknown man was seen leaving the Torquay Hotel via Bell St about 8.15pm on March 25 before the assault occurred.

Police have released an image of a man they wish to speak to who may be able to assist with their investigation.

The photo shows the man wearing a dark jacket and hat.
