Police arrest two after Bunnings Norlane incident
A man and a woman have been arrested after police tracked an allegedly stolen car from South Melbourne to Norlane Bunnings, where the man attempted to carjack four vehicles.
A man and a woman have been arrested after police tracked an allegedly stolen car from South Melbourne to Norlane Bunnings, where the man attempted to carjack four vehicles.
Police first detected the stolen grey Haval in South Melbourne while on patrol about 1.15pm.
Police allege the pair drove off upon seeing police, with the officers following the vehicle along the Princes Freeway Geelong bound.
The pair then drove into the Bunnings Norlane carpark, before it nearly collided with a woman getting a pram out of her car.
The man then got out of the vehicle and attempted to carjack four separate vehicles.
No one was physically injured.
Police arrived on scene about 2.45pm and took the man into custody, while the woman was chased by police into the hardware store where she was arrested shortly after.
The 30-year-old Abbotsford man was taken to hospital under police guard, while the 25-year-old Abbotsford woman was interviewed by police and charged with theft of motor vehicle and possess a drug of dependence.
She was bailed to appear at Geelong Magistrates’ Court on 18 November.
It is alleged the Haval was stolen from the Port Melbourne area on 6 October.
