One hospitalised following mountain bike incident in Highton

Emergency services were called to a high angle rescue following a mountain bike incident in Highton on Friday afternoon.

Dramatic Highton rescue

A person has been hospitalised following dramatic high angle rescue in Highton on Friday afternoon.

Eight emergency vehicles were on the scene of what was understood to be a mountain bike rescue behind houses on Pinnacle Cl, which backs onto the banks of the Barwon River about 2.40pm.

It’s understood crews had to change their approach to the rescue, initially attempting to get to the person from an entry point to the Stan Lewis Walk, an ambulance was then moved into a residential driveway closer to where the person was.

Paramedics and firefighters were on the scene as well as units from SES South Barwon.

It’s understood one person was taken to Geelong hospital, their condition is at this stage unknown.

The incident was deemed under control just after 3pm.
