Man arrested after North Geelong hit and run leaves cyclist in hospital

A man who allegedly struck a cyclist on Wednesday will face court charged with dangerous driving causing serious injury.

A man has faced court charged over an early morning hit and run that left a cyclist hospitalised.

Anthony Ramsey appeared before Geelong Magistrates Court on Friday where he was remanded in custody.

The 35-year-old was arrested in Mercer St about 3.00pm on Thursday.

Mr Ramsey, from Geelong, was charged with dangerous driving causing serious injury.

Police will allege a 21-year-old Charlemont man was struck by a white Kia Sportage about 6.40am Wednesday, near the corner of Pakington and Church streets in North Geelong.

Paramedics were on scene about 7am and treated the cyclist on scene before taking him to Geelong hospital with critical upper body injuries.

As of Friday, the cyclist was in a stable condition.
