A drunk teenager who caused mayhem in pubs across Geelong was pepper sprayed by police on multiple occasions.

Jacob Mccluskey, 19, pleaded guilty in the Geelong Magistrates Court on Monday to a charges including resisting police and drunken disorderly and was sentenced to a 12-month good behaviour bond with no conviction.

Police prosecutor Senior Constable Laura Wood told the court Mccluskey was stumbling through the streets of Corio with one shoe on February 25 this year.

The court heard police were patrolling the area and approached Mccluskey, who became verbally abusive towards the officers.

After the verbal encounter, the court heard Mccluskey was wrestled to the ground by an officer, arrested and put in the back of a police van.

“He was escorted to the rear van, became argumentative and tried to prevent the door from closing,” Constable Wood said.

Mccluskey was then pepper sprayed and taken to the police station.

When he was interviewed by police he said he had too much to drink and described himself as being “pretty tanked”.

In another incident at the Dive Bar in Malop St on July 9 this year, staff had to call police because Mccluskey appeared to be drug and alcohol affected.

The court heard Mccluskey was “slurring his words” and “smelled of liquor” and was arrested by police in relation to outstanding matters.

After trying to resist police, Mccluskey was taken to the ground and placed in the back of a police van.

On the evening of April 3 last year at the Sphinx Hotel in North Geelong, staff called police because Mccluskey was “causing trouble”.

Constable Wood told the court when police arrived, Mccluskey immediately became confrontational, had bloodshot eyes and was unsteady on his feet.

He then started threatening members of the public who were witnessing the event unfold.

The court heard he was uncooperative with police when he was placed in the back of a police van, and was eventually pepper sprayed.

Mccluskey’s lawyer, Sarah Wood, said her client needed to try and fix things for himself.

Magistrate Franz Holzer said Mccluskey needed to watch his alcohol use and act responsibly in the future.

“Much of the offending resulted in a culmination of you being “tanked,” Mr Holzer said.
