An Armstrong Creek woman who stabbed an Uber Eats driver and taunted the victim’s wife on Facebook fronted the Geelong Magistrates Court on Monday on 20 charges.

Isabella Maher, 18, approached an Uber Eats driver on April 15 while carrying a knife and told him she would stab him before she attacked.

Maher pleaded guilty to charges including unlawful assault, making threats to kill, assaulting emergency workers on duty, theft, burglary, intentionally causing injury and using a controlled weapon without excuse.

Police prosecutor, First Constable Alex Turner, said the victim was working in Werribee when he was approached by Maher about 8.20pm. She lunged at him and stabbed him in the left shoulder and right forearm.

The court was told the victim was treated by paramedics and that Maher was arrested by police at about 9.40pm.

The court was also told Maher sent taunting messages to the victim’s wife, which read: “husband feeling okay after I stabbed him”, followed by two laughing face emojis.

On April 7 in Melbourne, Maher approached a woman who couldn’t understand what Maher was saying and turned away from her.

“The accused walked behind her, pulled her hair and brandished a blue box cutter,” Constable Turner said.

The victim held a handbag in front of her stomach as she was fearful of being stabbed, the court heard.

A short time later, police arrested Maher and she was taken to a police station.

At 7.39pm she was released from custody and just four minutes later she spat at an officer out of uniform, asking ‘what the f--- are you looking at?’.

She was arrested and taken back into custody before she was released from custody again an hour later.

In another separate incident, Maher sent threatening messages to victims via Facebook, saying “I will shoot you” and “pull up b---, you f---ed with the wrong person” and also sent messages to a victim where she threatened to stab and kill them.

On April 25, she was arrested by police and taken to the Geelong police station. About 9.15pm, Maher spat at an officer in the face and an hour later she shaped up and charged at another police officer before she was subdued with capsicum spray.

Magistrate John Bentley described the offences as “very concerning” and convicted Maher and sentenced her to a 12-month therapeutic community corrections order.

“These offences are serious and she needs to know, any repetition (and) it will be custody next time,” Mr Bentley said.
