Police have released photofit images of two men they want to speak to over a sexual assault in North Geelong more than two decades ago.

Investigators have been told an 18-year-old woman left the Sphinx Hotel on January 17, 1999.

Police believe the woman met two men who offered to drive her home in a dark blue, two door hatch back.

“While in the car the woman was sexually assaulted by both men before she was left on Milton St, Bell Park,” Victoria Police spokeswoman Alex Day said.

One of the men is described as caucasian, aged in his 20s, tall, a thin build with dark wavy hair.

He was wearing shorts and a light-coloured top.

The second man is also described as caucasian, aged in his 20s, tall, dark shiny hair with a goatee.

He was wearing a dark blue polo shirt.

Ms Day said the incident was originally reported in 1999.

Police from Geelong Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team are reinvestigating the matter.

Police would like to appeal for any witnesses to the incident to come forward.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
