Former St John of God nurse Peng ‘Chris’ Yang to stand trial for alleged sexual offences

A former St John of God nurse who lost his job after allegedly raping a person when the allegations surfaced will stand trial next week.

A former nurse who allegedly raped and sexually assaulted a person will stand trial in the County Court next week.

Peng “Chris” Yang, 38 was employed at the city’s St John of God Hospital when he allegedly committed the offences in 2019.

According to court documents, the Director of Public Prosecutions alleges Mr Yang intentionally sexually touched a complainant without his consent on three occasions.

Mr Yang is also alleged to have raped the complainant.

Mr Yang, who was stood down from the hospital when the allegations surfaced, is suspended from practising as a nurse according to The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

He has been charged with three counts of sexual assault and one count of rape by compelling sexual penetration.

Mr Yang graduated with a bachelor of nursing at Deakin University in 2017 and was first registered as a nurse in December 2017 before his registration expired in May 2020.

The trial will happen at the County Court in Geelong on September 4.
