Five-year-old struck by car leaving Leopold Community Hub

Police have launched an investigation into how a five-year-old was struck by a vehicle outside a community hub in Leopold.
Victoria Police understand the vehicle was leaving the Leopold Community Hub near the intersection of Kensington Rd and Dunsford Drive about 8.40am when it collided with the child.
A spokeswoman said “the driver stopped at the scene and provided assistance”.
“The investigation remains ongoing,” she said.
Paramedics responded to the incident.
The child was treated for lower body injuries and was transported by road to Geelong hospital in a stable condition.
The community hub is located next to Leopold Primary School.
In 2023 it was reported that the Kensington Rd school crossing was in the top three for drive troughs in the Geelong region
A drive through can involve a motorist going through the crossing when the supervisor has their stop sign out, is on the crossing, or there are other people on the crossing.
