Residents have been told to “stay informed” as a grass fire continues to burn in a paddock west of Winchelsea.

Firefighters attended the blaze near Beal Rd in Irrewarra about 2.40pm on Thursday.

A message from the Country Fire Authority (CFA) told residents of an area that encompasses parts of Irrewarra and Warncourt to “stay informed”.

“There is currently no threat to you, but you should stay informed and monitor conditions,” the alert said.

A CFA spokeswoman said as of 3.15pm, 16 vehicles were responding to the fire.

“Air support has (also) been requested,” she said.

The fire was brought under control about 3.40pm, with firefighters remaining on scene.

Irrewarra is located about an hour west of Geelong, 10 minutes out of Colac.

The fire comes just days after a fire near Inverleigh burnt about 70 hectares before being declared safe.

More to come.
