A second man accused of a terrifying home invasion in Grovedale has not appeared in court, instead sending an email to say he is seeking legal help.

A second man accused of a terrifying home invasion in Grovedale has not appeared in court, instead sending an email to say he is seeking legal help.

Daniel Horsfall, 25, was charged on Sunday with attempted home invasion and recklessly causing injury.

He was bailed to front the Geelong Magistrates Court for a brief hearing on Friday.

Mr Horsfall is accused of being involved in a home invasion in Grovedale on January 3.

About 11.30pm, Mr Horsfall and two co-accused, including a 12-year-old boy, allegedly attempted to gain entry into a home on Church St.

The male occupant of the house allegedly confronted the trio and a scuffle ensued.

The occupant allegedly stabbed one of the trio in the back before he was allegedly assaulted.

Police allege the trio fled the scene but were later arrested.

When the matter was called on Friday morning, magistrate Ann McGarvie said Mr Horsfall had sent an email to the court stating he had spoken with Victorian Legal Aid on Tuesday and was advised to “get an adjournment” for a case to be prepared.

Ms McGarvie noted this was the first time the criminal matter had been listed before the court.

She extended Mr Horsfall’s bail until January 30 when he is due to front court again.

Mr Horsfall’s co-accused, Nathan Elbourne, appeared on Monday.

The 20-year-old, from Belmont, made a bid for a bail which was refused by magistrate Franz Holzer.

The court was told Mr Elbourne had only been released from prison two days before the alleged offending.
