A Corio man who died following a She Oaks car crash at the weekend is being remembered as a happy-go-lucky father of three.
Mark Robertson was driving on Steiglitz-She Oaks Rd when he crashed into a tree just before 6pm on Saturday.
He died in hospital two days later on January 6, while a passenger suffered non life-threatening injuries.
Mr Robertson was married and had three children, aged 12, 17, and 18.
Family friend Kenniesha West remembered her father’s best mate, who she called “Uncle Robbo”, as a “chatty” guy who loved to socialise.
“He was one of those party people who loved to have a drink with everyone and a good laugh,” she said.
“On my 18th birthday, he bought me a birthstone necklace … we used to go fishing together and he was always at family events like barbecues.”
Ms West said Mr Robertson’s death was a “kick in the guts” and that those close to him were in shock.
“We are still hurting,” she said.
A GoFundMe page has been established to support Mr Robertson’s family who “have been left with massive medical expenses and a funeral to plan”.
Organiser Courtney Ebery said “Marko” was “one of a kind” whose heart was “as big as his smile”.
“He was the kind of man who approached life with a fun-loving spirit and an unmatched sincerity,” she said.
“He was the one who would go out of his way to lend a hand, no matter how big or small the task … his generosity was a reflection of the beautiful person he was inside.”
Mr Robertson, who worked a variety of jobs, including in pig farming and concreting, enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and camping.
Police are investigating the crash.
