An allegedly stolen car was pushed onto the train tracks and set alight near North Geelong station with police investigating the suspicious blaze.
Emergency services were called to the Telegraph Bridge on the corner of Church St and Stubbs Ave about 6.30am on Sunday.
Fire crews found an allegedly stolen car had been pushed onto the tracks and set alight.
Footage from the scene shows large flames and thick smoke billowing from the vehicle.
A passer-by on her morning walk rang triple-0 and also alerted nearby residents of the blaze, which was getting close to their back fences.
She described the fire as “very scary” and said there were loud explosions.
On Sunday morning, coaches were replacing trains for parts of the Geelong line.
However trains have since resumed but passengers are warned to expect delays and allow extra travel time.
Police are treating the fire as suspicious and are investigating the blaze.
