A Bell Park woman who died just days after the birth of her sixth child has been remembered as a devoted mother and kind person.

Cally White, 40, died at Geelong hospital on Saturday, just over a week after baby Peyton was delivered via scheduled caesarean.

Peyton was born premature at 34 weeks on March 10, and remains in the special care nursery at Geelong hospital.

Longtime friend Jodie Parker said Ms White developed health complications following Peyton’s arrival and her death was unexpected.

Ms Parker said Ms White was only able to hold Peyton twice before she died.

Ms White has six children with her partner Scott Price, ranging from Peyton to her eldest, an adult son.

Ms Parker said Ms White’s third child, a daughter named Zoey, died before she was born.

Ms Parker, who lives in Herne Hill, said Ms White’s family was “not coping”.

Her long-term partner Mr Price, who she met as a teenager, will now grapple with caring for their kids, including baby Peyton.

“He’s gone from working a full-time job to not being able to work at all … his biggest fear is how is he going to support his children,” Ms Parker said.

Ms Parker said Ms White’s kids had been her world.

She described Ms White as the life of the party.

Her hobbies included being involved with Baby Show Time, which hosts events like novelty baby shows.

Ms White would enter her kids, while raising money to support children with cancer.

Ms Parker said Ms White was always “so nice” to everybody.

“Anyone who knew her loved her,” Ms Parker.

Ms White and Ms Parker attended Norlane High together, and Ms White was Ms Parker’s maid of honour.

Ms Parker thanked the nurses in intensive care and the special care nursery for how supportive and caring they were.

A GoFundMe page has been established by Ms Parker to raise money to support Ms White’s family.

It has already raised more than $9000.
