Anglesea, Lorne, Jan Juc kindergartens to close on Monday due to bushfire risk
A slew of council services will close on Monday due to the Country Fire Authority issuing an extreme fire danger rating.

Several kindergartens and other council services on the Surf Coast will shut down on Monday due to extreme fire danger.
It means Lorne Kindergarten, Jan Juc Pre-School, Anglesea Kindergarten, Lorne Transfer Station and Anglesea Re-sale Shed will all be closed for the day.
State schools in the region won’t know if they are closing until Sunday afternoon at the earliest.
Surf Coast Shire general manager of community life Damian Waight said the safety of employees and the community was of the “absolute highest priority.”
Lorne, Anglesea, and Winchelsea visitor information centres will also be closed all day.
Anglesea Landfill will be open from 5-10am, and Anglesea Transfer Station will be open between 9am-10am.
Lorne and Deans Marsh residents will need to put their bins out on Sunday night as the collections will be carried Monday between 3am and 10am.
“The expert CFA advice is to avoid high risk areas on extreme or catastrophic fire danger days,” Mr Waight said.
“We understand that service disruptions and facility closures are inconvenient, but we are absolutely clear that we will always put people’s lives first.”
“We thank the community in advance for understanding.”
Mr Waight urged residents to err on the side of caution.
“We urge everyone to be prepared for Monday’s Extreme fire danger day by downloading the VicEmergency app, having a fire plan and knowing when to leave, and following the CFA’s advice,” he said.
It is expected that all services will return to normal operating hours on Tuesday, however locals can check council’s Facebook and Instagram pages as well as their website for further updates.
