The identities of a man and woman arrested in dramatic scenes in Grovedale after a police officer was allegedly struck by a car have been revealed.

Norlane woman Alexandra Taylor, 29, and Ararat’s Jake Quinlan, 28, did not apply for bail when their matters were called in Geelong Magistrates Court on Tuesday morning.

The pair was arrested after police officers responded to reports of a car and trailer theft from a property on Barwarre Rd in Armstrong Creek on Monday morning.

Officers saw the Ford Ranger driving with another allegedly stolen Subaru Liberty on the Surf Coast Highway not long afterwards and moved to intercept.

As they closed in, the Subaru allegedly drove directly at police, hitting a male officer.

“During the arrest, two more police officers were assaulted and sustained minor injuries,” a police spokesman alleged on Monday.

The officer allegedly struck by the car was treated at the scene, while the other two were taken to hospital for treatment.

Mr Quinlan is charged with aggravated intentional exposure of police officer to risk by driving, assault, theft of motor vehicle and resisting police.

Ms Taylor, who appeared in the dock for a brief filing hearing, was charged with the same, minus assault, as well as drug offences.

Her lawyer, Kate Saunders, told the court Ms Taylor was withdrawing from a drug of dependence, and had other custody management issues including diagnoses of PTSD, anxiety and depression.

She asked for Ms Taylor to be seen by a nurse as she was remanded.

Magistrate Gerard Lethbridge remanded Ms Taylor to face a committal mention in the matter on March 11.

The prosecution must hand their brief of evidence to the defence by January 20.

Mr Quinlan opted not to come up from the cells to front court.

He will also face court again on March 11.
