Geelong has signed almost its entire premiership-contending list to extensions, including mammoth deals to its star players, ahead of the 2024 season.
Cats superstar Georgie Prespakis, along with midfield guns Nina Morrison and Becky Webster, has signed four-year extensions until the end of the 2027 season.
Forwards Chloe Scheer and Jackie Parry, as well as winger Mikayla Bowen, have signed three-year deals to remain in the hoops until the end of 2026, while Amy McDonald, Chantel Emonson, Julia Crockett-Grills and Georgie Rankin have all signed on for two more years.
It is expected that Prespakis’ deal has made her one of the competition’s highest-paid players.
The other 13 players out of contract have signed one-year deals to stay in Geelong until the end of the 2024 season, while Irish pair Aishling Moloney and Anna-Rose Kennedy both signed two-year contracts when they joined the club earlier in 2023.
Former Lion midfielder Bella Smith, who arrived in a three-team trade during the trade period last week, signed a one-year deal at the club.
Assistant general manager of football Brett Johnson said it was great to retain the core of the list heading into 2024.
“All players in our squad last year played a key role in our success in 2023, and to be able to retain the majority of our list head is exciting and we can’t wait to continue to build on our success next year,” he said.
“Ten players have committed to the Club longer term which has enabled us to lock away a strong core group of players that can continue to lead our program forward both from a team performance and culture perspective.”
The club holds picks 17, 32 and 41 heading into the draft on Monday night, with the Cats committed to drafting father-daughter selection Bryde O’Rourke.
