It’s the city’s most hotly anticipated travel destination — and for the first time, new pictures give an exclusive look inside Adelaide’s Oval Hotel.
They reveal that the hotel’s rooms will boast the same spectacular views that have earned Adelaide Oval its place as the world’s most beautiful sporting venue.
In the lead-up to the launch of the second edition of Future ADL magazine on November 2, these newly released architectural drawings give an insight into the first hotel in Australia to be constructed around a sporting arena — an architectural trend that is springing up in major cities across the globe.
The trailblazing Oval Hotel follows a trend started six years ago, when the redeveloped Adelaide Oval set a new benchmark for sporting stadiums across the country.
Due to open in September 2020, the boutique 138-room hotel will wrap around the back of the oval’s eastern grandstand. “It will complement the oval,” said Adam Vonthethoff, general manager, hospitality and portfolio development for Adelaide Oval.
“It is not just a hotel in a carpark at a stadium — it’s really a part of the DNA of the Adelaide Oval.”
The new architectural pictures show the hotel — a five-minute walk from Adelaide’s city centre — will afford spectacular views of the local parklands, river and cityscape.
Mr Vonthethoff said it would also feature the latest in intuitive technology and add a boutique offering to the Adelaide market.
“I think it’s great some of the bigger hotels are coming,” he said.
“We want to make sure we are positioned with a premium product that’s accessible, comfortable and tech-ready. I really believe the hotel will be a real asset to South Australia.”
The hotel will offer two restaurants, including the famed Hill of Grace.
