Ex-tropical cyclone Alfred makes trail of destruction on Gold Coast

After days in the lurch, ex-tropical Cyclone Alfred finally made landfall, destroying homes, businesses, and iconic landmarks across south east Queensland.

The Gold Coast wore a lot of the worst damage, with hundreds of thousands of people and businesses left without power as gargantuan trees toppled onto powerlines in the mighty winds.
