Emergency crews called to house fire at Rose St in Southport

A Gold Coast home has been destroyed after a fire ripped through on Monday morning.

A person is being assessed for smoke inhalation after a house fire on the Gold Coast.

Emergency services were called to the corner of Rose and High streets at Southport about 9.30am on Monday after reports of house fire.

When crews arrived on scene, the house was engulfed in flames.

A Queensland Fire Department spokesman confirmed the blaze was not yet under control and five crews were working to put the fire out.

Paramedics have assessed one person at the scene for smoke inhalation but they did not require transport to hospital.
