Darwin sunset cruiser charged for aggravated assault after two women injured at Waterfront

A sunset cruise and hotel stay came to a disturbing end on Friday after a 29-year-old man allegedly targeted and injured two women at Darwin’s Waterfront.
Police first received reports of a man assaulting a woman in a vehicle outside a hotel at the Darwin Waterfront at about 9.30pm on Friday.
The woman was reportedly known to him.
City safe policing units attended the spot where they found a woman with “non-life threatening injuries” and arrested a 29-year-old man.
It is believed the incident was a “continuation” of an earlier incident on a sunset cruise in Darwin Harbour.
It is alleged the same man assaulted another woman who was not known to him. She suffered minor injuries as a result.
After carrying out initial investigations, police have charged the 29-year-old with two counts of aggravated assault, driving under the influence and has been issued with a police Domestic Violence Order.
He is in police custody and due to appear in court on November 17.
Following the incident, police have thanked the public who alerted them to the incident saying it helped lead to a “swift response and safe resolution”.
