A woman found unconscious on the Nightcliff foreshore on Thursday night remains in hospital in a stable condition following an apparent assault, as the identity of the alleged offender remains unknown.
NT Police said they responded to reports of an indigenous woman found unresponsive on a bike path at Rapid Creek about 6:10pm.
The woman was located near the intersection of Rapid Creek Rd and Holland Place.
Northern Watch Commander Michael Valladares said the woman had sustained injuries from an apparent assault, sparking a police investigation.
She was taken to Royal Darwin Hospital for treatment where she is currently in a stable condition.
The whereabouts of the alleged offender/s remains unknown, but Mr Valladares said police believe they may be known to the victim.
Detectives from Crime Command are currently investigating, and anyone who witnessed the incident or has CCTV or dashcam footage is urged to contact police at 131 444 and quote reference P25126294.

In a series of unrelated incidents in April, four women were assaulted by a boy over 12 days on the Nightcliff foreshore.
He has since been arrested by police and remanded in custody to appear at the youth court on May 20.
On Friday night the twentieth Sea Breeze festival begins on the Nightcliff foreshore.
