Tropical sparkles, carols and mischievous Santa elves can be found across Cairns as preparations and events begin for a special Christmas.
While heavy rain has cancelled the lighting event of the Cairns Esplanade Christmas tree
on Thursday evening, there are other events happening around the region.
And the theme is “tropical sparkles”.
Cairns division six councillor Kristy Vallely said council would host Carols at the Park at Munro Martin Park, with a livestream of the event at CPAC, on Sunday, December 11 from 5pm-8.30pm.
“We have a narrative running through the show where we have 10 very mischievous elves that you have to keep your eye out for,” carols organiser Liesl Bourke said.
Other events on across the region include a play that will be on for five days at Edge Hill’s Rondo Theatre starting November 30, while Joy to the World carols and fireworks will kick off at Cairns Showgrounds on December 3.
Hemingway’s Brewery will host a Christmas party and competitions on December 10 while markets will be held at Mount Sheridan Plaza for last-minute shopping on December 11-18.
