Snake attack: Giant scrub python eats wallaby at Mission Beach near Cairns

A large scrub python has been caught on camera devouring a wallaby at a popular Queensland beachside village. GRAPHIC WARNING:

A Far North resident has captured mazing images of the gruesome moment a wallaby was swallowed whole by a snake at a popular beach town.

On Sunday night, Kevin McMahon shared images of the python consuming the large marsupial on social media.

“Keep your cats inside at night Mission Beach residents,” he posted.

“This is a full size agile wallaby being devoured in Mission Beach.

“Your cat has no chance against this eating machine.”

In the photographs, the python has swallowed the head and upper body of the wallaby.

On social media the images attracted attention from the Mission Beach community.

Jayne B Combe posted: “That is nature at its most amazing.”

Bec Nostaw said she would take no chances with her beloved pet.

“My pup is sleeping next to me while these are around, he goes to the toilet on a leash. In the yard.”

Anne Gosling posted: “Great photos~ Lucky you for capturing one of nature’s wonders.”

Earlier this year on Australia Day, a Cairns family captured an amazing video of a large python strangling a wallaby and hauling it 2.5m up a tree in their northern beaches garden.

Kewarra Beach resident Elva Kadic, 70, said she, her husband Adam and four other family members were pruning and mulching lychee and mango trees on their .8ha property in the early afternoon of January 26, when they heard loud noises near the fence.
