The ute is also said to have hit a trailer on Gloucester Street.
The Cairns Post also understands the vehicle hit and knocked down at stop sign at McManus Street.
Members of the public also reported seeing the ute with its back tyres blown out and front bumper bar missing after it did laps around Woodward Street, Edge Hill.

A shop owner in Edge Hill said the man had been refused service at Liquorland.
He could then be heard yelling loudly to himself outside of Brumbys before he began driving, according to the shop owner.
The man is believed to have eventually crashed along Irene Street at Vico Oval, Mooroobool.
