Police have launched a search and rescue operation east of Aurukun after a 52-year-old man was separated from his hunting group.

Police have launched a search and rescue operation east of Aurukun after a 52-year-old man was separated from his hunting group.
Police said initial information indicated around 4pm, Saturday, March 22, the man was hunting roughly 70kms east of Aurukun with a group when the vehicle he was travelling in became bogged.
Shortly after, he became separated from the group.
The group conducted a search before returning to Aurukun and alerting police.
On Monday March 24, police launched a search and rescue operation involving police
officers, the local council, APN Cape York, community members and aerial assets.
A Queensland Police spokeswoman confirmed the search area was in bushland, and police had no water assets at this stage.
The spokeswoman said there was no indication a crocodile was involved.
The search is continuing.
